Have you ever eaten something that took you back to the exact place you were when you first tasted it? In this nostalgic audio piece, Giovanna Fabiano learns about the biological connection between memory and taste (it’s a real thing) and has an epiphany along the way. This is her story about a lifelong love of peanut butter, a confession and an apology.
Author annotation:
The PB&J has been a constant in my life, my trusty fallback lunch companion from grade school to dorm room to cramped city apartment to suburban kitchen. I found it interesting that something so simple could provoke such powerful feelings of nostalgia, so I decided to explore that aspect of memory and taste and how they connect. I chose to do an audio piece because I thought this was a story that might have more impact if it were actually told. After all, confessions are best shared out loud.
